Connecting Bar Kit For Vehicles With Fixing Points

The DropRacks Connecting Bar kit allows those with vehicles using fixed points in the roof to mount a DropRacks systems. As standard all DropRacks kits come with an 850mm connecting mounting position however this distance may not line up with your Fixing Point locations, so drop rack have made a few selected length kits perfect for use with some popular vehicle models.

Available in a range of lengths that go up to 1445mm which is ideal for fitting DropRacks systems onto the like of the VW T5/6 vans using the 1st and 3rd fixing points.

The Dropracks Connecting Bar Kit contains 3 bars which will replace the existing 850mm bars. 2 square bars which provide structure between the front and rear bars and a round bar which replaces the control bar that is used to support when raising and lowering.

If the available kits are not the required distance apart DropRacks state that the bars can be cut down to the required length from their largest 1445mm kit. The Dropracks instructions for this can be found below:

How to cut and machine the bars to fit a shorter distance.

Step 1- Measure:

Put the clamps on roof and meassure from top of the clamps, center-center to figure out the distance, “X”

Step 2 - Calculate the “cut-off”:

Cut-off = Kit Length – X

Step 3 - Cut off the extensive lengths:

The extensive pieces will have the same length. The bars you keep will still have the same lengths relative to each other, as seen in the photo below:

In the photo above, a kit of 144.5cm has been cut to fit 122.0cm.
The cut off length is 22.5cm in this example.

Step 4 - Drill new holes:

Make new holes in the cut ends.
